White House Christmas

Friday, December 7th, 2007

I wanted to go to Washington D.C. this year to witness to lighting of the national Christmas Tree. They always hand pick a huge North Carolina pine and decorate it extensively to show the holiday spirit of the government. This time of year, we can put all our differences aside for a while and just sit back and enjoy the season. If I had an invitation to the White House, I’d be able to have dinner with the President and even sit in his Bush furniture.

Soldier Arrested Seeking Help at VA

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Spc. Justin Faulkner had tried to tell his superior officers about mental problems he was experiencing, which went ignored. He took matters into his own hands and checked himself into a VA hospital to undergo evaluation for his difficulties. Then, in the middle of the night, he was arrested for being absent without leave from the military. In his eyes, he wasn’t trying to hide, as he was at a veteran’s hospital. This says a lot for the untold casualties of war, mental distress that doesn’t get counted among normal statistics.

Hate Crime in NYC

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

A black professor who teaches a racial justice class at Teachers College at Columbia University came into work to a very disturbing surprise: a noose hanging on her office door. Police were all around the campus trying to find out more clues as to who could be responsible for such a despicable act. I will go out and make a prediction that this isn’t some hate issue, it’s probably a student whom she failed and said student is enacting senseless revenge with extreme racial overtones.
