Hamilton Beach® Stand Mixer

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

When I was growing up in Plains, Georgia, home of Jimmy Carter, peanuts were a big part of my life. Many folks around made their living, as the President once did, from peanut farming. It was no surprise they made their way into our diets in a big way. Before I knew about peanut butter cups and ice cream, the original peanut treat were peanut butter cookies. After mixing up a batch, I would have to lick the beater clean, as well as the bowl. Then, the cookies came out of the oven soft and moist. They stayed that way for days! They never got hard as many cookies tend to. A yummy peanut buttery treat was never more than a few minutes away. Here is a recipe:

1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg

Press 3/4 inch balls down with a fork and bake for 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees.

After beating in the vanilla and egg with my old mixer, I realized how much easier it would have been with an Eclectrics® Mixer. Peanut butter isn’t the smoothest or most viscous substance to work with, sometimes a large batch of peanut butter dough has my old mixer about to crumble. That isn’t the case with the Hamilton Beach® Stand Mixer. It features hands-free mixing capability with two professional grade rotating heads. It had 12 settings to mix anything up perfectly. Quiet operation and a three year limited warranty means the Hamilton Beach® Mixer will never give you any headaches.

More Mouse?

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

You would think being in Florida that I would get tired of Disney World. However, it doesn’t take very long knowing me before you find out I always crave more mouse. Like Disney itself, I can’t just let it go I have to do at least four sequels. This is why I practically live in Orlando. It was only natural that I get a Orlando rental home so I wouldn’t be spending so much of my money on lodging costs.

EMU Murder Trial Begins

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Orange Taylor III, 21, faces life without the possibility of parole if he is convicted of murdering fellow Eastern Michigan University student Laura Dickinson. The EMU campus is in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The two students met on a rowing team and it escalated until Taylor was accused of home invasion and larceny. He is then believed to have murdered the victim. The trial is expected to last just two weeks, so I guess they have compelling evidence.

BP Solar Decathlon

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Every other year, teams of conservation minded college students get together in the BP Solar Decathlon to build houses that operate solely on solar power. Together with the U.S. Department of Energy, BP has been sponsoring this exciting event to educate people about the benefits of alternative energy. It’s no surprise coming from BP, as they are the only energy company sponsoring the event. They have always been at the forefront of environmental concern and alternative energy research, and this event exposes that same regard for the environment to a new generation of young people.

This year, the week long event will be held at the National Mall in Washington D.C. from October 11th through the 19th. Twenty colleges from around the world will be competing this year to see who is able to best build an energy efficient home that relies solely on solar energy to be livable. All the exciting updates can be found on a blog that will be updated as the event progresses. The blog is located at http://www.bpsolardecathlon.com! Be sure you check out what’s going on, as you are sure to learn a thing or two about energy efficiency just as the students are. This event highlights a very good cause - alternative energy - which will become more important to future generations.

Neat Kitchen Faucet

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

I can’t think of any other way to improve my kitchen than getting a set of Delta faucets installed. These things are world renowned for quality and craftsmanship. It is the only water dispenser that is viable enough to be in my kitchen. What this has to do with the law is beyond my ability to deliver legal definitions. Somewhere down the line we might know the truth, but for now we have a cold case.

Supplements

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

I wish that consumers knew the difference between FDA approved medicines and nutritional supplements. Both can give you good health and both can have adverse effects, depending on what it is and the dosage taken. I guess you could say supplements aren’t for a specific health condition and aren’t overly dangerous in any concentration, but can lead to better overall health and virility.

Bunk Beds

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

My bedroom has come a long way since I shared a set of bunk beds with my siblings back home in Tennessee. I always had the lower bunk since I had the tendency to roll over quite a lot while asleep. The one time I treid to sleep on the top, I was woken up from a good dream by crashing onto the floor. Nothing was hurt, but it was a harrowing experience. Now that I’ve calmed in my sleep I wonder if I could get some bunk beds for old times sake?

Rousso Response to NYT

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

On August 22nd, the New York Times published an article about internet technology IPO Armand Rousso that left out some key facts and tried to mislead the readers. Thanks to his personal blog, we can get the response straight from Armand Rousso himself about the story “Misgivings Spoil Plan of Start-Up” by Saul Hansell. In the article, Mr. Rousso is accused of recent criminal charges, when in fact those charges have nothing to do with his internet company and occurred nearly ten years ago. Mr. Rousso has paid his debt to society and is ready to be an active force in the community, the opposite of what the article would lead you to believe. You can read about these journalistic mishaps and more in the Armand Rousso response to NYT story by Saul Hansell on his personal blog.

Christmas Gifts

Monday, August 27th, 2007

I can’t believe how fast this time of year came up once again! I bet like everyone out there, you have a few people on the gift list that it is just too hard to buy for. Everyone knows someone who seems to be impossible to have christmas gift ideas for. I guess you could take the easy way out and get a cover-all gift card, but try to do a little more research. Personally, I need a new set of tires, not a Sears gift certificate, though that’d help.
