General says Iraqi forces not ready to take over
Maj. Gen. Martin Dempsey just returned from a 22-month tour in Iraq with a very difficult mission: training the Iraqi military and police force to be ready to take over security in the unstable nation. The US has been training police forces, but one in six of the Iraqis trained has either been killed or wounded, has deserted, or has just plain disappeared. He said that the Iraqi military force needs to be increased by another 20,000 this year.
